As many will know, MPS Windows focus is not just business. We consider ourselves part of the local community and care about the people within it. Over the years, we have been fortunate enough to be able to assist with various projects. From community events, organisations, clubs and charities to show our appreciation and to help support and grow our community. As we continue to help great causes we would like to bring a few to your attention. They are integral to our community, but they rely on the help from others to keep up their fantastic work.
Devon Air Ambulance
In Devon we benefit from having 2 state of the art air ambulances available for when we need help most. Devon Air Ambulance have now completed over 32,000 missions to date and benefitted an incredible amount of lives. With the great work they have done and continue to do, it’s likely that most of will know someone that directly benefits from their help.
Devon Air Ambulance have a vision, and that is to end preventable death, disability or suffering from critical illness or injury. Their mission is to help others, but they can only do that with our help. Without the help of others, their critical care cars could not operate. Last month, we were faced with a rare occasion where we were able to help Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Unfortunately, their shop in Exmouth suffered a broken glass unit to their front doors. Ryan from our glazing department responded to the issue as quickly as possible. His rapid response had them safe and secure within 4 hours and the fees were waived as a charitable donation.
Exmouth and surrounding areas such as Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are all situated in a coastal environment. We are fortunate enough to be supported with a 24-hour, year-round rescue service provided by the RNLI. Since they began in 1824, the RNLI have helped save over 142,000 lives but their services go further than that. They help influence, supervise, and educate people with an aim of helping us all become safer water users. Without their continued help and support, our beaches would certainly not be as safe as they currently are.
One of our staff members Joe is running the Great West Run on 21st May 2023 and is fundraising for Exmouth RNLI. This is Joe’s first half marathon and he has a target of raising at least £1,000 to help the local charity that has had a hugely positive impact on our community. CR2EE are a phenomenal local charity who are dedicated to helping refugees in Ukraine and Moldova. The work that they do is life changing for so many. They provide financial support, as well as send articulated lorries full of food, clothing, bedding, first aid supplies etc. The people of our community have been extremely kind, offering great donations and helping with loading lorries and it has been inspirational to see so many people behind such a great cause. Unfortunately, CR2EE’s store in Exmouth was recently broken into and vandalised. A huge amount of damage was caused to the humanitarian aid that was waiting to be sent to refugees in Ukraine, resulting in volunteers having to spend hours cleaning up and disposing of food and medical supplies that were ruined. Their store was also left with smashed glass that team members Ryan, Harry and Danny organised and installed with the bill being waived as a charitable donation.
