MPS have specialised in the manufacture and installation of aluminium glazing products for over 20 years. What a lot of people do not know, is that we also have our own in house team of builders. This enables us to assist with a much wider range of projects, without the need of a third party. To showcase some of our abilities, take a look below where we put the spotlight on a recent local bi-fold installation.
The Importance of Planning
Above you can see a picture of the customers very tired uPVC bay window and French doors. The vision was to remove the bay and install aluminium bi-folding doors that sat in line with the house wall.
A project like this requires detailed planning and is not a simple task. As with all of our installations, before any products are manufactured, a full and thorough survey is carried out. This allows us to create a clear, detailed scope of works, installation plan and also determine manufacturing sizes. For this project, it was even more important than normal as there were a lot of variables due to the structural changes required.
Executing The Perfect Plan
Once the survey had been completed and the bi-fold doors had been made, it was time for the installation. Our in house builders started by removing the existing uPVC items. They then removed the guttering, flat roof and existing bay walls. After the walls had been removed it was time to square the aperture and build a new wall to support the underside of the door.
Phase 1 was complete and it was time for our installers to fit the lovely new bi-folding door. As you can see from the picture above, the builders did a fantastic job and the doors fit perfectly. The final phase of the building work included internal plastering and external rendering. This ensured that the project was finished to the expected high standards that we are known for.
Why Bi-Folding Doors?
Our customer was faced with 3 options which were Bi-folding, Sliding or French Doors. The vision of their new project was to create a social space between the dining room to their new patio in the back garden.
Bi-folding doors were the perfect option because they allow you to open up the whole aperture and seamlessly transition from inside to outside.
Quality Over Price
Price is always one of the most important factors when considering a project. The price however, should not be the single most important factor. This local installation of bi-folding doors is a prime example of a well made plan from a highly skilled team going right. Unfortunately, we have seen customers in situations where a poorly thought out plan has resulted in substandard results.
When embarking on a new project, it is better to do it once and do it right, than be forced to live with the results or do it twice.
